Unique Tiara

For those of you thinking of incorporating a nature theme or greenery into your wedding, here's a very unique tiara that will fit right in with the look you want: it's got peridot and emerald crystals on it, guaranteed to shimmer sparkle without all the diamonds we're accustomed to seeing on a tiara. It's just gorgeous...http://click.redgaloshes.com/click?a=4162&o=01-013905

Send in your dress, makeup or hairstyle questions

A friend of mine recently asked me for some wedding dress help. We went dress shopping together and had a time. Not that great in the beginning, I mean. First off, she is petite and plus-sized, and she hadn't done her research on how to flatter her figure. All the dresses she had been thinking of just didn't look right when she put them on--the poofy ballgown dresses made her look lost in tulle, and a sheath dress and frilly mermaid style dress just didn't get us enthused. I initially wanted her to find the dress she had been "dreaming about" without any intervention on my part. I had hoped she'd try one on, glow, and everyone would stare in awe telling her it was "the dress." Well, it didn't work out. But I had to do something before she got disappointed. So.....I brought her a couple of A-line dresses, which started us on a roll. She instantly cheered up. She had insisted on a rounded classic style neckline, but when I showed her how a v-neck w

Pear-Shaped Body Type

Well, the first body type I'm introducing is the Pear Shape, above. It's characterized by narrow shoulders and small to medium bust, a great waistline, with most weight on the lower half of the body past the waist(obviously, like a pear). You should emphasize the top half of your body in the form of decorative beading, lace, interesting neckline or plunging back (love that idea). You don't really need to emphasize your waistline with a corset-top or bustier because it's probably already awesome, and might just add more emphasis to your lower half (if it is figure hugging), which we want to avoid. My life in Greece

Image
Sorry about the posts delay! Was on vacation in Skiathos, Greece (above). I grew up in the States. None of you know this, but I now live in Greece. Yes, a beautiful romantic whirlwind brought me to this lovely country about seven years ago. Some have wondered 'But Why move?' Well, I am an optimist (and risk-taker I guess) but feel had that feeling that all would work out great. I can adapt pretty quickly. I love the culture, the people, the laid-backedness it offers here--and the many opportunities to see the intricate parts of the Greek countryside and ancient ruins. But I do get homesick sometimes (summer trips back to my family settle that). I'll be posting some memoirs from my own wedding in later posts. And other scenes from my Greek life!

What's a trunk show?

Ok, you're trying your hardest to find your gown. But, have you considered going to a trunk show? A bridal trunk show is an opportunity for famous designers to display their whole line of wedding dresses at local boutiques or department store like Saks. Brides must book their attendance in advance for the event by calling a month or more ahead of time. Dresses at trunk shows are usually not at a discount price, but you get the chance to talk directly with the designer for advice about those specific dresses, like making alterations or add-ons. Chances are the dresses are new season designs. Another plus is being able to see all the styles of a designer that may not be available in stores, guaranteeing you'll be the only bride in town with the dress!

Help your makeup stay all day (and night)

Image
For some brides, just the thought of all eyes being on you might make you break out in a sweat. Or, that you can't find the groomsmen when it comes time for pictures. Besides learning a few yoga breathing techniques, you should invest in a great makeup primer. First, it will give your skin the nutrients it needs to glow va-va-voomy. Next, will correct stuff like enlarged pores, discoloration or flaky skin. Then, you'll get great longevity in your makeup that day. Here are a couple of my favorites: Above first, Smashbox primer at Sephora; then, Bare Escentuals Face and Eye Primer Kit (online only) at Sephora.

Beach Dreamy Hair

Image
If you're destined for a beach wedding, don't expect for your hair to compete against northerly winds and humidity. Shoot for a simple, not many-steps to create style. You'll probably only need the help of a creative bridesmaid, some bobby pins, hairspray, and fresh flowers from your location. If you want to remain with the trends, then go with a wavy style. (Posts about creating your hair looks coming up this week. Always a fave subject of mine ) Here are a couple of inspirations for you gals out there.
